Although awarded many other honorary designations, Frances Glessner Lee was a full-fledged captain in the New Hampshire State Police, with authority to enforce laws and make arrests. Lee was commissioned as captain in 1943 at 66 years of age, the first woman to serve as police captain in the United States. For the rest of her life she carried a gold badge in her purse and was known as Captain Lee.

This 1.25" gold-plated pin, suitable for lapel or backpack, is a tribute to Lee's groundbreaking achievement. Note: Pin is not 1:12 scale.
